Calibrating Your New Battery
Once fitted, run your new battery through one full calibration cycle: charge it to 100%, then keep it connected for at least two more hours. Use your Pixel normally until it shuts off from low battery, then charge it back to 100% without interruption. This helps the battery gauge learn the cell's true full and empty points, so the percentage in Settings matches your actual remaining charge.
When to Replace Your Battery
Google's own guidance is clear: replace your battery once capacity drops below 80% or after 800 full charge cycles (1000 cycles for Pixel 8a and later). As the cell degrades, its internal resistance rises — voltage looks normal when the phone is idle, but sags under load, which is why some Pixels read 40% one moment and shut off the next.
